Youtube is the world's largest entertainment platform, yet the experience still feels lost in the days of early material design. I attempted to give the mobile app a fresh coat of paint. I began with a wild vision for the app, but over time I realized that many of my creative ideas were simply bad UX. If I was to drastically change the UX of the platform all at once, users would have to re-learn how to use the app. As I continue to refine the project, I am continuing to realize that better UX is often not flashy, and am learning to be more thankful of the purely functional design of Youtube.
